Thank you sweet Kate Quinn for tagging me in this fun blog hop…meet my main character indeed. This girl is about as far from Eleanor of Aquitaine as you can get. Young, fresh, hopeful, happy, the girl in my new draft is ready to face the world and conquer it armed only with good manners, integrity, and a spine of steel. Needless to say, I love this kid, and I am very happy that she lives in a romance novel. In romance novels, unlike life and history, things come out well for the people involved.
1) What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
My character’s name is Catherine, and she is pure fiction.
2) When and where is the story set?
The novel is set in 1821, with Prinny safely on the throne as King George IV, and all right with the world. This first novel in my new series takes place solely in London.
3) What should we know about your main character?Â
She is an honorable girl. She knows less than nothing about the world, but she knows who she is, and what she owes herself. She is a sweet kid and a tough cookie, wrapped in a muslin gown.
4) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?
As with so many of us, a lack of money makes her life a nightmare. Happily, all the men courting her just happen to be rich. 😉
5) What is the personal goal of the character?
To save her family from ruin and the loss of their family home. A lot for an 18-year-old to tackle, whatever year she is living in.
6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?
The working title is Seducing the Highlander (one of the men chasing her is from Scotland) This will change as soon as we have the title meeting but for now, this will serve
7) When can we expect the book to be published?
I am not sure when it is scheduled to go out…I am hoping for spring or summer of 2015. More on that as soon as I know the answer.
