Actually this post is less about Regency England and more about the Gilded Age in the United States. Long before income tax came into being, the American elite built castles of their own, many in Newport, but one particularly gorgeous one in Asheville. I am going to look at the Christmas lights and tour the Biltmore House for the holidays this weekend. And I am thrilled.
