What Makes A Good Book Better

What makes a good book better? Re-writing it over and over again, of course. Though no matter how many times I go over my own work, I always need an outside eye. That’s why God made early readers, in my case, LaDonna Lindgren and Laure Creasy, who help me catch the worst of my mistakes.

And then comes the editor.

I am grateful everyday for the fabulous editors I have worked with. An editor can take the bare bones of a story, and ask the right questions, helping to flesh out the novel, making it a better book than it ever would have been without her.

So this week, I find myself grateful for my editor, who does an amazing job of looking at the bare bones of an idea, asking me just the right questions, then stepping back, and watching the idea for my next novel soar.
