As much fun as I am having with all things Regency, I came across this quote yesterday and I wanted to share it with you all. I think all artists can understand this one. If I’m right, and it speaks to you, please comment and let me know your thoughts.
“I have just realized that the stakes are myself. I have no other
ransom money, nothing to break or barter but my life.â€
Diane di Prima
That is a wonderful quote – and I think it speaks to all of us whether an artist or not. Or maybe we are all artists in our own way.
You are so right Julia! I guess living our lives well is the best art any of us can make.
I agree with this quote completely, if I interpret it correctly. It says to me that we are the compass of our own journeys. Whatever we do or wherever we go, it is because of our own decisions, spoken or unspoken, implicit or explicit. Even what we think of as a non-decision is a decision of sorts. If we do not vote in an election, we are really voting for whoever wins because our lack of a vote helped that winner win.
Good point Janice! So true…
