Quote of the Week: Writing Without Regret

So often is the virgin sheet of paper more real than what one has to say, and so often one regrets having marred it.

Harold Acton, Memoirs of an Aesthete, 1948

Far be it from me to disagree with a writer from the past, but in this case, I do. We must dive into the blank page the way we dive into the Void, ever seeking the right word, the perfect phrase to convey what we are trying to say. To catch the flashing glimmer of truth that is sometimes  elusive, sometimes close at hand, but always worth chasing. Even when we miss, the leap is worth it.

Here’s to marring the blank page, and to writing without regret.
