How To Lose A Lord in 10 Days Or Less

My buddy Elizabeth Michels has a new book out July 1st! Needless to say, I want it 🙂 Click the link above to order…

“I want to know you, to understand anything at all about you, because you are the most maddening lady I have ever encountered.”

He’s the perfect gentleman… After years hidden away from the mockery of the Ton, proud Andrew Clifton, Lord Amberstall, is finally ready to face Society again. But when his horse is injured on the road to London, Andrew finds himself literally thrown at the feet of the beautiful, infuriating, and undeniably eccentric Katie Moore.

…she’s anything but a lady. Katie always preferred the stables to society, so when she was badly injured in a riding accident, she was more than happy to retreat to the countryside and give up the marriage mart for good. She never expected an infuriatingly proper lord to come tumbling into her life-and she certainly never expected to find herself wondering what it would be like to rejoin the world at his side. They couldn’t be more different, and soon Andrew and Katie find themselves at odds about everything but the growing passion between them…and a keen awareness of a threat that may end their unconventional romance before it has even begun.

“Rich with wit and charm, providing this series finale with plenty of scintillating romance and simmering intrigue.” – Publishers Weekly

About the Author (The gorgeous blonde next to me at this signing )

Elizabeth Michels grew up on a Christmas tree farm in rural South Carolina. After tip-toeing her way through school with her focus on ballet steps and her nose in a book, she met a boy and followed him a thousand miles away to Kansas City, Missouri where she lived for many years. Together, they spent their summers with his family in England, soaking up culture and history. Elizabeth attended Park University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Interior Design.
Elizabeth now spends her days creating plots and concocting characters. When she is not typing as fast as human movement will allow, she is caring for her husband and little boy. Elizabeth Michels is a lover of happily-ever-afters. Whether in her writing life or in her home life, she spends her days with one word on her lips: love. She invites you to read her stories, get lost and enjoy.

What Inspires Us to Write

In the evenings now, the fireflies come out and dance across the lawn behind my house. They fly, of course, but to my eyes, they look like they are dancing to music I can’t hear. The waterfall rushes down the ridge behind my house…maybe they’re dancing to the sound of that. As the gloaming turns to nightfall, I watch them dance and think of absolutely nothing. Not the future, not the past, not my deadlines, not my characters, not my day job, not my loved ones. I simply sit and watch them dance, and think: how will this moment feed my work? How will this quiet change the way I write?

I don’t have an answer yet. A scene with fireflies may show up in one of my upcoming books. Or it might not. But in this moment, as I watch the fireflies dance, my soul has been fed. And that is where all our work comes from.

Regency Friday: A Taste of Seduction

I was tagged by the fabulous authors Gillian Bagwell, Anne Barnhill, and Kate Quinn for a game of 7 and 7. In this game, I post 7 lines from page 7 of my latest Regency romp SEDUCING THE HIGHLANDER (working title) coming out sometime in 2015.

Here’s to hot Highlanders and the women who love them.

Alexander and Catherine meet for the first time, and have their first waltz at Almack’s.

“I am Alexander Waters, brother to your new friend Mary Elizabeth Waters of Glenderrin. You are…” Here he faltered, for he had no idea of her name. Michaela? Gabriella?

She smiled a little, then pressed her lips together as if to suppress it. She succeeded only in drawing his attention to her mouth, and to the fact that her lower lip was a plush pillow that he would like to take between his teeth.

“I am not accustomed to dancing with gentlemen I do not know.”

“No one knows anyone at these things. Except for the bloody English, who have known each other since birth.”

“As I have told your sister, Mr. Waters, I am English.”

“You are an angel from heaven. I don’t know why you’ve touched ground here tonight, but I am grateful to God you have.”

My Latest…
