Bright Star and Art
Friday, October 9th, 2009 | Reviews, The Writing Life
Art: film, poetry, story-telling, acting, if done well, teach us to know ourselves. BRIGHT STAR, Jane Campion’s latest film, did that for me. To show love, spring, winter, loss, beauty, poetry and grief so clearly, so honestly in the space of two hours, when reams of paper are spent and burned without achieving even a shadow of all those things. Thank you, Jane Campion, for reminding me of what I am striving for.

Hi Bella! I really loved it. It is a beautiful film. I hope I haven’t built it up too much for you, but it is very romantic, old fashioned and sweet. It really made me see the world in a different way for a couple of hours.

Hi Christy, hope you are having a fabulous week!
Just wanted to share with you that I did go se Bright Star with my girlfriend and we totally enjoyed it! The acting, the wardrobe, the scenery, and the poetry in it was BEAUTIFUL.
Next, we are planning to go see Coco avant Chanel.

Hi Bella! I am halfway through the first draft of my new Eleanor book, so it IS a fabulous week. Thank you for your good wishes.
I adored BRIGHT STAR, as you know, and I am glad you loved it, too. COCO AVANT CHANEL is fabulous as well, if not quite as moving. I hope you love it as much as I did!
